A piece will always tell you what it wants to be, and sometimes it insists (painfully so) hahaha. It looks gorgeous in that colour, Sar! I pray you and your beloveds are weathering your move well. Luv ya face!

You are exactly right... the piece TELLS YOU WHAT IT WANTS! No piece of furniture is a blank canvas -- it has history and design, even if it comes straight from the factory. Old furniture especially has a mind of its own; I think it absorbs energy from the people who chose it and lived with it, used it. (yeah, I know. too 'New Agey' for a lot of flippers, but there ya are). Used furniture "speaks", and if we listen carefully to what the piece demands once the old finish is gone we won't be disappointed with the final appearance. You did NOT fail, dear. You just gave her a different outfit to wear, a different "look" and she's eternally grateful and proud of her lovely new appearance... all thanks to you!

Sometimes you gotta do what you know is right for the piece. I love the look. I'm happy you don't listen to the ones who don't respect your decisions on YOUR furniture. Have a great weekend❤😊

Don't beat yourself up about styles, upcycling furniture means you can make it any style you want it to be, you do a fantastic job and have pride in your work, to me that is what makes all the difference. 💜🦘🇦🇺

I did not like the two tone paint and wood combination. I do not like the thin gold striping on painted art deco furniture. To me personally it is a modern re-interpretation of brass inlay, which painted gold striping was not original art deco. But as you said, each to their own. I also do not like the painted piece. If one is looking for a piece of furniture to blend in with the background, I suppose it is fine. Although I have many painted pieces of furniture in my house, I feel that a natural wood look would do it justice, but obviously many others disagree.

Sarah, dear, life is way too short to be frustrated and miserable. You are a wonderful, gifted artist! So, let it go, find another piece that is,as you said, in your wheelhouse and carry on. BTW, I think the piece is lovely and yes, I have seen things you have done that I like better but there’s nothing wrong with this piece! Good luck now. If you could, I would ask you to send some of that wonderful rain to North Carolina. It’s so dry here, our grass is dying, garden past help and miserable 100 degree weather.
